About

The Site

Digital Photography How To is intended to be a primer on how to use a digital SLR camera and, to some extent, simpler digital cameras. Most of the posts are aimed at novice to intermediate photographers; I don’t pretend to write with a professional audience in mind.

The Author

Hi. I’m Brian (aka Walkere on forums).

My full time job is as a high school teacher in New Jersey. Along with teaching history, I’m also the advisor for the yearbook and I train my students in how to use digital cameras.

I also work with one of my recent graduates, Olinda, on the development of her career as a photographer. You can keep up to date with her portfolio and her work on her website – olinda-gibbons.com.

Why Did I Make This Site?

First, photography is a passionate hobby of mine (and at times a side job). I find it helps me develop my skills and learn more about a topic by reading and writing about it. This blog is an outlet for that writing.

Second, every year I need to train new students in how to use digital cameras to create our yearbook. Ultimately, I hope to collect some of my information here so that I can point them here to use as a resource as they learn.

Third, I learned a lot of what I know about photography (and other topics) by reading on the Internet. I know there are other people out there doing the same thing. So, I write this for them – other beginning and novice photographers and that are looking for something to read to help them become a better photographer.
