We’re… Back? Google is a Fickle Beast.

Google is a fickle beast. And, unfortunately, one that more or less runs the Internet. For most people, the avenue to information starts and ends with… Google.

That’s why I was a bit disturbed a few months ago when all of the traffic to this site from Google inexplicably stopped.  Starting March 18, traffic dropped from ~100 visits from Google daily to… almost zero.  No explanation, no message in my Google Webmaster dashboard.  The site was in the Google Index, but it was impossible to find in a regular search query.

Now, for no apparent reason, it’s back. I randomly logged into my Google Analytics account today and noticed that for the past three days, the site was back to its usual ~100 visits per day.  Don’t know how, don’t know why.  But maybe this is a sign that I should start posting again.

The timing couldn’t be better. One week from today, school will let out from the summer so I won’t have a day job until next September. I had intended to spend some of that time working on photography gigs and building up my client list and portfolio for my photography studio.  Guess I’ll just have to devote a little time to writing about photography, too.

I’ll probably start posting again next week, after I’ve had some time to organize my thoughts and pick out a few topics. In the meantime, check out the latest event I worked – the 1st Annual Red Carpet Single Mother’s Appreciation Day at Watsessing Park in Bloomfield, NJ.

About Digital Photography How To

Digital Photography How To is intended to be a guide to people learning how to use their digital SLR cameras. Three years ago, I had never picked up a camera; now, I produce a yearbook every year and I moonlight as a professional photographer.

I write this website to share what I've learned in that time. The topics will range from truly beginners topics, to tutorials for post processing, to resources for yearbook and graphic design, to thoughts on transitioning from a hobbyist to a professional. Keep up to date by subscribing to the RSS feed.
